In Francis Lee’s drama Ammonite, set in the 1840s at the wild Southern English coastline of Lyme Regis, acclaimed self-taught palaeontologist Mary Anning (Kate Winslet) and a young woman (Saoirse Ronan) sent to convalesce by the sea develop an intense relationship, altering both of their lives irrevocably. The film premiered at Toronto International Film Festival 2020.
