“This is one of my favorite scores I’ve gotten to work on. It was created with a very minimal palette, mostly piano, which I always find interesting and challenging — trying to create a lot of dimension without too many instruments and finding space for the performances. I recorded most of the score in Iceland, along with the amazing string players of the Budapest Art Orchestra.
Many of the piano performances were simply me recording while watching the picture, playing and improvising with it to create a feeling that the viewer was inside the performance. Thanks to Scarlett for giving me so much trust and freedom to put so much of myself into it, and to June Squibb for her incredible performance. And to my whole team that worked on this with me!” — Dustin

The Chromatic Sessions

Splinter Records
Released: 2025

The tracks are improvised piano pieces recorded in single takes in my studio in quiet moments of creation and spontaneous exploration. A synaesthetic mingling of visual and sonic sensations of three colors -, gold, red and blue. I’ve always loved triptychs in art and film, and I think the simplicity of these colors can have many meanings for the listener. Colors can tell a story without language — in the same way that music can, too.

I can’t wait to share this with you and hear your interpretations

‘The Chromatic Sessions’ EP is available today on Bandcamp, both digital and on coloured 7″ vinyl.

The 7″ vinyl comes in red, gold and blue as a bundle of three. Each bundle is limited to 150 sets and each vinyl contains all three tracks, exclusively on Bandcamp.

It also comes with free PDFs of the sheet music. I wanted to offer the sheet music because when people get involved in playing the music, it becomes part of them in a different way. It becomes communal. It becomes theirs.

Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy

“Composing the score for this new, mature chapter of Bridget Jones was an experience I never expected, It gave me the opportunity to explore new musical palettes and find ways to bring depth to Bridget’s journey. Working with director Michael Morris was a great experience—his vision helped maintain the film’s integrity, allowing me to approach the score with the same artistic care I bring to all my work.” – Dustin

1 0 0 1

Deutsche Grammophon

Released: 2024

1 0 0 1 is a musical exploration of the nature of the human mind and contemplates the implications of artificial intelligence, raising questions about the essence of humanity in a world increasingly intertwined with advanced technology. Designed for “intentional listening” – to be experienced as a whole, in the same way as we take our time to contemplate a painting or a sculpture – Dustin O’Halloran’s immersive new album provides a space in which to slow down and reflect on some of the complex philosophical questions facing our ever-more-rapidly evolving world. O’Halloran recorded 1 0 0 1 at RRO Studios in Reykjavík, where he was joined by his longtime collaborator/composer Bryan Senti on violin, a hand-picked eight-voice choir, Paul Corley (Sigur Rós) on electronic production, and the Budapest Art Orchestra orchestrated by Roman Vinuesa – all mixed by Francesco Donadello.
